One Small Victory

Hello loyal fans, Tuxedo Stanley here again. Feel free to worship and adore...

Stan under lampshade

Something exciting happened in Catopia this week. Unfortunately we weren't allowed in on the secret.

four cats hanging out

We heard a rumour that it involved a woodpecker! Mmmm!

Check out the video here.

That's all for this week. See you next week.
Love,
Stanley

  1. Dear Stan, I have to admit that I am a devoted follower of yours and look forward to your regular updates. Glad to see that you were able to assist your Father in helping the bird get better after a little R&R. As a word to the wise, I would lay low for a few days, until your parents forget about your recent indescretions. You'll need to stay on their good side...... Diva also heard a bird singing on the weekend, and was impressed. Wish I was close, I would love to give you a kiss on the forehead (maybe one of your caregivers could do it for me). You're one handsome man, no wonder the bird flew so close.

  2. Stanley, I could tell from watching the video that you helped your parents to care for the woodpecker by staying a safe distance from him and keeping a very careful watchful eye on him while he recovered. Your such a blessing and a big help to your parents!

  3. Good thing it wasn't a "stuffed toy woodpecker" ! All kidding aside, a wonderful ending to I'm sure....a scary beginning for Mom and Dad. The woodpecker could not have chosen a better window to fly into (if he had to do so). He had the best care for certain. What was the bird eating when he woke up? I assumed it was a piece of bread...but not so sure...
Big hugs to your Mom and Dad (and all in Catopia) for saving such a beautiful creature. hugs to you all xoxo

  4. Small victories are good victories, Stanley. All the Spay Day kitties believe in small victories too.

  5. You don't need special veterinary skills to save many of these birds. They are often just stunned by the impact. If they are left lying on the snowy ground they will likely die from exposure or predation. Providing a warm, quiet, dark environment will often be sufficient to allow Mother Nature to perform her magic. We offered him a block of suet (animal fat) to peck at once he woke up - you can see from the mess on his beak that woodpeckers LOVE suet :) We've seen him at the suet feeder over the past few days so we know he is doing well :) :)

  7. Thanks for the tip Hugh, I should have known that was suet, we leave that in our bird feeder through the winter also. So glad to hear he was nursed back to health, I will not forget your advice if ever that happens here.

  8. Just a fabulous story of care and patience by all involved. Thank you Hugh and Cathy. We are very proud of all the kitties in Catopia for their good behaviour.

  9. Wonderful video, and I so love the happy ending. Was it a Downy or Hairy Woodpecker? Windows are so hard on birds, thanks for sharing the great tip!
